Lois D. Jenkel
 
	Lois D. Jenkel, age 80, of Pinckneyville, died Saturday, August 14, 2004 at 1:15 a.m. in the Friendship Manor Nursing Home, Nashville.
	Lois was born in Pinckneyville on March 30, 1924, a daughter of Elmer and Bertha (Becker) Bigham.  She married Harold Jenkel on September 29, 1940 in Perryville, MO and he preceded her in death on February 2, 1992.  
	Lois moved to Lower Holts in October of 1946 and was a member of Holts Prairie Baptist Church in Pinckneyville.  She worked with her husband on the family farm and was an avid reader.
	Survivors include two sons: Ronald Jenkel and wife Phyllis, and Alan Jenkel and wife Jeanie, all of Pinckneyville, one daughter: Jane Cheek and husband Raymond of Pinckneyville, four grandchildren: Jason Jenkel and wife Amy, Derek Jenkel, Tim Cheek and wife Kim, and Ryan Cheek and wife Elizabeth, four great-grandchildren Andrew Jenkel, Levi and Emma Cheek and Ethan Cheek, two brothers: Glen Bigham and wife Thelma and Gerald Bigham and wife Marietta, all of Granite City, and one sister: Carolyn Jewel and husband Mike of Belleville, three sisters-in-law: Ethel Bigham of Pinckneyville, Mary Bigham of Wilmington, IL, and Ernestine Rushing of Pinckneyville, one brother-in-law: Lewis Meyer of Marissa and several nieces and nephews.  
	She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, four bothers: Elmer Bigham, Elvis Bigham, Leroy Bigham, and Russell Bigham and four sisters: Velma Hopp, Opal Bigham, Rebecca Lynch and Irene Schmidt.
	Funeral Services were held on Monday at 11:00 a.m. at the Holts Prairie Baptist Church with Brother Collin Hirsch officiating.  Interment was in the Holts Prairie Cemetery.  
	Friends called at the Pyatt-Harrawood Funeral Home, Pinckneyville, on Sunday, August 15, 2004 from 5:00 p.m. till 9:00 p.m. and on Monday, August 16, 2004 from 8:00 a.m. till 9:30 a.m., and at the Holts Prairie Baptist Church from 10:00 a.m. till 11:00 a.m.. 
	Memorials may be made to Alzheimer's Unit of Friendship Manor, Holts Prairie Cemetery Fund or Alzheimer's Association.
